Iraqi embassy reopened in UAE
United Arab Emirates-Iraq, Politics, 6/26/2000
The United Arab Emirates UAE news agency in Abu Dhabi reported that foreign ministry secretary Seif Saeed in Said on Saturday received the credentials of Abdul Razzaq Hamoudi Ahmad, the first acting charge d'affairs for the Iraqi embassy to the UAE since freezing diplomatic relations between the two states.
The UAE news agency said " the Iraqi charge d'affairs will reopen Iraq's embassy to the UAE and will in the coming few days hoist his country's flag at a temporary headquarters, until a permanent headquarters will be prepared."
Despite the freezing of relations between the two states, the UAE is considered one of the major providers of humanitarian aid to Iraq.
Recent estimates of economic exchange between the two states are estimated at US $ 400 million.
