Three killed in a refinery explosion in Kuwait

The explosion took place on Sunday morning in the Kuwaiti refinery in al-Ahmadi resulted in killing three persons and wounding other 43.

An official Kuwaiti oil source said that huge material losses were inflicted in the Benzene production unit, the refining unity, the gas-separation unity and the gas unit and the refinery because of the explosion in the gas transport pipelines.

The source added that attempts are underway (until Sunday night) to control the consequences of the explosion by the firemen and the civil defense teams.

Worthy mentioning the explosion which took place at al-Ahmadi refinery takes place after one week from a similar explosion took place in al- Sheibeyah refinery in Kuwait due to gas leakage. Two were killed and other wounded in the earlier explosion.
