Germany to assist Morocco fight poverty
Morocco-Germany, Economics, 6/24/2000
The German government will provide Morocco technical assistance to help the country fight poverty.
The announcement was made by director general of the German federal ministry of cooperation and development, Michael Bohnet, at a meeting here Wednesday with Moroccan secretary of State in charge of social protection, family and children, Mohamed Said Saadi.
Bobnet said the assistance will also allow the enforcement of socio-economic measures contained in the draft plan for women integration into development.
Talks also covered Morocco's moves geared towards achieving sustainable development, promoting human rights and consolidating the rule of law.
The German official visited Morocco to participate in the Moroccan-German intergovernmental negotiations on cooperation for development (joint commission) held June 20-22.
As part of aid to development, Germany pledges to donate Morocco 118 million DM destined to the sectors of drinking water and sanitation, environment protection, rural development and upgrading Moroccan economy.
