Haitian doctor in Morocco sued for practicing abortion

A Haitian doctor is facing judiciary action for charges of practicing abortion after one of his patients suffered serious physical incapacity.

The practitioner, aged 56, worked in this Moroccan city (40 km north of Rabat) for over 30 years and although he was not a gynecologist, he used to practice abortion during week-ends.

A.R. was arrested after the family of one of his patients filed a complaint for major injuries incurred by the woman following an abortion operation that caused hemorrhage.

Abortion is forbidden by Moroccan law except in cases where pregnancy could harm the woman.
