US-based Arab community impressed by Moroccan king's visions on Arab and Islam issues
Morocco-USA, Politics, 6/24/2000

Leaders of Washington-based Arab-US organizations praised the vision and positions expressed by Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Arab and Islamic causes and on the Middle East issue.

In a statement to MAP office in Washington on the occasion of the state visit paid by the king to the USA this June 20-23, chairman of the Arab-US institute, James Zogby, said how proud the Arab community living in the USA was to meet the king. "We are impressed by the vision, clear-sightedness and positions expressed by His Majesty on the Middle East issues," Zogby told MAP.

"Morocco, which is holding the chairmanship of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) committee --stemming from the Organization of Islamic Conference-- has always been a land of a peace, tolerance and openness," he added before hailing the king's views as evidence to Morocco's attachment to a fair and comprehensive peace in the middle east on the basis of international legality.

For vice-president of the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee, Khalil Jahshan, the Arab-US community feels very confident to have on their side "one of the Arab world leaders who perfectly fathoms stakes and aspirations of the Arab and Islamic nation."
