Morocco-USA, Politics, 6/24/2000
Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Friday voiced satisfaction over the outcome of the three-day state visit he paid June 20-22 to the USA at the invitation of President Bill Clinton.
"We avail ourselves of this opportunity to convey to you our total satisfaction at the positive results of the discussions we had with your excellency, the members of your cabinet, the representatives of the American people and other dynamic forces with regard to the reinforcement of our longstanding friendship which has constantly been founded on the noble human values of liberty, peace, justice, dignity, mutual respect and profitable cooperation," King Mohammed VI said in a message to President Clinton as he was leaving the US airspace.
"These are, indeed, the kind of strong relations constantly entertained by the Kings of Morocco and the American presidents, and of the firm ties binding our two friendly nations in the course of a long history," the king said.
"We will keep alive in mind the exchange of views we had with your excellency regarding bilateral, regional and international issues of common interest," King Mohammed VI said, adding that this exchange was "governed by our deep mutual friendship, consistent cooperation and the same ambitious drives to establish new bridges of comprehensive relations and open new vistas for our economic and cultural exchanges, thus raising our special ties and partnership to the supreme level we hope for them."
The king voiced "thanks and sincere gratitude" to President Clinton, his spouse Mrs. Hillary Clinton, and the members of the Clinton administration "for the warm welcome, sincere friendship and great hospitality."
King Mohammed VI likewise expressed consideration and gratefulness to the American people, represented by eminent politicians, economists and scholars, "for their overwhelming cordiality and hospitality."
