Albright visits Damascus
Syria-USA, Politics, 6/24/2000

The London-based al-Hayat daily said in Friday's issue, according to well-informed sources that the US secretary of state Madeleine Albright will visit Damascus on July 25 to hold talks with the Syrian officials on resuming Syrian- Israeli negotiations.

Al-Hayat added, according to the same sources, that the Syrian approach will not accept any initiative from any side unless it is being supervised by the US administration.

On the internal Syrian level, the paper quoted well-informed sources expecting a limited cabinet reshuffle in the government of the Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro in light of results of the 9th Baath party regional congress held on June 17- 20.
