Germany donates Morocco 118 million DM

Germany will donate Morocco 118 million DM, part of the 2000-2001 cooperation for development program.
The figures were disclosed on Thursday during the signing in Rabat of the minutes of Moroccan-German intergovernmental negotiations on cooperation for development (joint commission) held here this June 20-22.
The minutes was signed by Director general at the federal department of economic cooperation and development, Michael Bohnet and secretary general at the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation, Rachad Bouhlal.
Bohnet said that his country will extend Morocco the amount despite the financial difficulties Germany is undergoing, stressing that his country considers Morocco as a priority partner.
With an additional 95 millions DM extended by the German government in aid to development, the total aid will reach 213 million DM, he said, adding that 80% of the aid goes to the sector of water and sanitation.
The two countries decided to promote cooperation in four major sectors namely drinking water and sanitation, environment protection, rural development and upgrading of Moroccan economy.
On Tuesday, the German official held a meeting with Moroccan secretary of State for cooperation, Aicha Belarbi on means to develop and enlarge bilateral cooperation based on new mechanisms.
