Morocco expects over one million Moroccan expatriates for summer holidays
Morocco, Local, 6/23/2000

Some 1,022,000 Moroccans living abroad will be spending their summer holidays in Morocco, said Moroccan minister in charge of Maghreb, Arab and Islamic Affairs, Abdeslam Znined.

Znined, who was speaking at the oral question-time of the house of representatives, said the same number of expatriates spent their holidays home in 1998, while in 1999, they were no more than 992,970 who came to Morocco for holidays. He added that ministerial departments concerned with the transit operation are taking the needed measures to facilitate the return of Moroccan expatriates, including special facilities for handicapped persons in Moroccan and Spanish check points.

The minister also cited the reinforcement of the Moroccan embassies and consulates staff.
