Resuming peace negotiations between the Sudanese government and Garang movement soon
Sudan, Politics, 6/21/2000

The rebel movement in south Sudan under the chairmanship of John Garang said that it will resume peace negotiations with the government soon in Nairobi.

In a statement issued yesterday, the movement assured that the date of the negotiations will be later determined concerning completing the conditions upon which the negotiations began - related to killing civilians - which Khartoum's government has abided by since 8th of last May.

This comes in the time in which an investigation made by the British defense department assured the non-existence of evidence on the Sudanese government's use of chemical weapons in the southern part of the country.

An organization called Christian Solidarity raised the case last year and demanded an investigation by the British defense department.
