Arab League reservation on Security Council's statement on Israel's withdrawal
Regional-Lebanon, Politics, 6/20/2000

Arab league Secretary General Esmat Abd El-Magid said in a press conference the Arab League's reservation on the presidential statement issued by the UN Security Council concerning the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.

He said that the Israel withdrawal is incomplete because there are some military points that Israel still occupies in Lebanon and if these Israeli violations were not removed the Israeli withdrawal will not be complete. He referred to continued communications between the League and Lebanon to follow up this matter, assuring that Israel's occupation to some locations in Lebanon is absolutely refused and Israel must return to the Lebanese international borders in 1923.

He further clarified that he authorized ambassador Hussein Hasouna, head of the league's mission in New York, to make urgent communications with head of the Security Council to inform him with Arab stance on the council's statement.
