Annan calls on Israel to withdraw from the Golan

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt on Monday in Cairo discussed with the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan developments concerning the ME peace process and Israel's implementation of UN resolution 425 provides for its complete withdrawal from south Lebanon, unconditionally.
In statements he made following his meeting with President Mubarak, Annan called on Israel to fully withdraw from the Golan in implementation of UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338, stressing that this demand is the base to reaching peace with Syria.
The UN chief expressed his hope to meet with Lt. Gen. Bashar al-Assad during his visit to Damascus. He stressed that the UN will continue its efforts to implement UN resolutions 242 and 338, provide for complete withdrawal from the Golan up to June 4, 1967 border lines and from the occupied Palestinian territories.
Annan's stressed the need of Israel's honoring of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to honor the border demarcation line with Lebanon and not to violate Lebanese territories, waters and airspace.
