The 9th Baath party regional congress

The 9th regional congress of the Baath Arab Socialist Party on Sunday unanimously approved a decision that Lt. Gen. Dr. Bashar al-Assad as the leader of the Baath Party and the people.

Meantime, the conference continued its deliberations held at the Ummayad's Palace on Sunday to discuss economic, political and organization reports.

The political committee held a meeting. It was chaired by Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and attended by the assistant secretary general of the Baath party Abdullah al-Ahmar.

Members of the committee debated local and Arab conditions, stressing "the importance of enhancing the joint Arab action by eliminating elements of dismemberment and mobilizing potentials to confront challenges facing the entire Arab nation, especially the Zionist-Israeli project of aggression and expansion."

Members of the political committee also discussed ways of confronting, with a high spirit of responsibility, the different dangers represented by the current order of globalism.

The conferees discussed ways of reviving the national Arab project and developing the information lexicon with a view to disclosing sinister campaign targeting Syria and the Arabs and to encountering the foreign cultural invasion.

On the internal conditions, members of the political committee stressed the need to continue combating all forms of socio-economic ills, the strengthening the internal front, to solidifying national unity, to protecting the late achievements of the late President and to maintaining the march of steadfastness and comprehensive development led by promising Lt. Gen. Dr. Bashar al-Assad.

Members of the party's organization's committee held a meeting chaired by the member of the party's regional leadership Fayez al-Naser. They discussed several reports on how to reactivate party works to consolidate the Baath Party structural organization with a view to pushing national activities forward and to materializing the Party and President al-Assad's national objectives.

Meantime, the Prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro presided over a meeting held by the party's economic committee.

Members of the committee debated several reports connected with how to reconsider the previous march of economy and restart reconsolidating the country's national economy. The conferees stressed the need to battle all shortcomings and to draw up new plans to be compatible with the targets and objectives of the forthcoming stage.

In the evening, the three political, organizational and economic committees continued deliberations on discussing the reports submitted to the 9th regional congress of the Baath Party.
