The monthly report issued by the Arab trade finance program said that the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement contract with Syria in Damascus concerning banning the double taxation in order to encourage, protect and guarantee investments as well as improving economic and investment atmosphere of the two states in general. The report said that the agreement forms the legal frame for contracts and the foundation for dealings between the two private and public sectors in both states. It also creates economic and tax certainty for investors.

The US embassy in Damascus said in a statement issued on Thursday that it will postpone all its public activities during the current period, including the US national Day which falls on July 4th. The statement noted that this measure reveals the desire of the US side to honor the national mourning period, Syria had declared following the death of President Hafez al-Assad.

Statistics issued by the Lebanese industry ministry showed that the invested funds in the industrial sector registered a strong increase during May as the number of the registered new factories reached 46 in comparison of 31 ones in April, an increase of 48.4%. The total number of the registered new factories in the first five months of the current year reached 168 factories and that nearly 15.2 U.S million dollars were invested in these factories.
