Egypt participates in activating International Criminal Court

The fifth and final session of the preparatory committee meetings of the International Criminal Court has started proceeding which are expected to run for three weeks, Egypt's Permanent Delegate to the UN,Ahmed Abul Gheit said.
Abul Gheit said that Egypt is effectively participating in this session which will endorse the document defining crimes to be considered by the Court.
The session will also ratify rules and measures which the Court will follow in discharging its mandate and duties, he added. Among issues to be examined, one of the most serious crimes of the world, namely aggression, Abul Gheit added.
Egypt is negotiating this issue at the preparatory committee on the basis of international law and relations which was reflected in UN Resolution 3314. This resolution gives clear definition of aggression. Egypt has contributed to the wording of the resolution in 1974.
