US embassy in Damascus postpones programs

The US embassy in Damascus said in a statement issued on Thursday that it will postpone all its public activities during the current period, including the US national Day which falls on July 4th. The statement noted that this measure reveals the desire of the US side to honor the national mourning period, Syria had declared following the death of President Hafez al-Assad.
In its statement, the US embassy in Damascus extended condolences to the family of the late President and to the Syrian people.
