Ethiopia officially approves OAU peace plan with Eritrea
Ethiopia-Eritrea, Politics, 6/16/2000

The spokesman for the Eritrean Presidency on Thursday said that Ethiopia has lost 90,000 persons including 40,000 who were killed during the last two weeks in the battles with Eritrea.

AFP quoted the spokesman as saying that Addis Ababa on Wednesday officially approved a peace plan proposed by the Organization of African Unity due to the heavy losses inflicted on the Ethiopian army, SANA reported.

The Eritrean spokesman stressed that this plan is not only a plan to stop the war but also an agreement to demarcate the borders under disputes between the two countries.

He added " in case we sign an agreement we will discuss border demarcation and this is a main change in the Ethiopian position." The Eritrean spokesman also said that he does not have any information about the possible date for signing the agreement.
