Palestine-Syria, Politics, 6/15/2000
The existing Palestinian forces in Damascus met with a delegation from the Arab who reside in Israel (Arabs of 1948) in view of the meetings in Washington between the Israeli government and the Palestinian government.
A delegation from the occupied lands comprises 15 important personalities arrived in Syrian through Golan Heights to participate in the funeral of the late Syrian President Hafez al-Assad and to pay condolences.
Maher El-Taher, the spokesman of the Peoples Front for Liberating Palestine said that the meeting of chief of the front , George Habash, with the Palestinian delegation under the chairmanship of the Arab delegate Azmi Beshara resulted in the two sides' agreement on that any real peace in the area could not be established without guaranteeing the right of the Palestinian refugees to return home. He added it has been emphasized the impossibility of establishing peace without the Israeli withdrawal from the land they have been occupied since 1967 and without establishing the Palestinian country with Jerusalem as its capital.
