Amnesty international criticizes Palestinian government practices

The Amnesty international concerned with Human rights has criticized the Palestinian government for its continued violation of human rights and pursuing the policy of political detention during 1999 against several members of the opposition Palestinian political groups.

In its annual report issued on Wednesday in Gaza, Amnesty International stressed that the Palestinian government in 1999 arrested more than 350 Palestinian citizens for political reasons, noting that 90% of those detainees were " prisoners of views" ( Jailed because of their views against the government).

The report added that among those Palestinian prisoners are critics of the Palestinian government leadership are journalists and members in the two movements of the Palestinian resistance movement ( Hamas ) and the Islamic Jihad.

Amnesty International noted that hundreds of Palestinian citizens have been kept in the Palestinian prisons for years without a charge or trial, including persons suspected to be members in the Palestinian resistance groups.

The report stressed continued Palestinian government's security and military courts in sentencing political detainees offer unfair trials.
