President al-Assad ensured Syrian's political security

In its Wednesday's commentary written by Shafiq al-Ghabra, the Monte Carlo radio said that the late President Hafez al-Assad had succeeded, amid troubled conditions, which cordoned Syria internally and externally in ensuring a basic and important matter, which is "political stability in a society inclined to defy the authority and where the army plays a main role in deciding the ruling regime." (There was almost 20 coupes between the period since independence until al-Assad assumed rule in 1970.)

The commentary reviewed stages that Syria has passed through, including the conflict with Israel, the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the challenge with the US, siding with Kuwait against Iraq, the relations with Turkey, and the support for Lebanese national resistance, adding " in all these stages the Syrian case emerges with a calm success and a special manner of performance. The radio added that President Hafez al-Assad has left Syria after he had great achievements to it, but still at a very sensitive phase.

The radio concluded as saying that the great task assigned on the shoulder of Bashar al-Assad will not be easy. The steps of transfer and change and relating this process to the role played by the new generation, reforms and the change, are all the most difficult in the history of nations and people.
