President of Mali visits Morocco

Malian President Alpha Omar Konare starts this Wednesday an official visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI who will hold talks on various issues and will host a banquet in his honor, the ministry of royal household, protocol and chancellery said.
As part of the two countries' efforts to promote bilateral trade, Morocco and Mali agreed during the third session of the high joint commission held this June 5-6 in Rabat, to finalize the non-double taxation draft agreement and another agreement on investment promotion and protection.
Trade exchanges between Morocco and Mali remain very low despite existing potentials. They stood at $12.24 million in 1998, up from $ 9.07 million in 1995.
The two sides decided to promote cooperation in the fields of infrastructures, handicraft, culture and sciences, youth and sports, communication and religion.
