Hawatemah calls for correcting relations with Syria

Member of the central command of the democratic front for the liberation of Palestine Ali Badwan said that a "joint work meeting" included the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, the secretary general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine Nayef Hawatemah and former chairman of the Palestinian National Council Khaled al-Fahoum in Damascus following offering last respects to the late Syrian president in Damascus.
Badwan added that the participants in the meeting noted the need of practical implementation of decisions taken at Cairo's dialogue in August 1999. That meeting was held between Hawatemah and Arafat, as well as for translating into action the decisions of the Palestinian central council in its recent meeting.
Badwan added in a statement, that Hawatemah stressed, together with Arafat, the need for correcting the course of Syrian- Palestinian relations. The statement added that Hawatemah asked "our brothers in Syria to host a join Palestinian national dialogue to be attended by all PLO forces and groups in order to rebuild the PLO's establishments and restore back the Palestinian national unity.
