Cairo does not expect a Syrian change in the peace process
Egypt-Syria, Politics, 6/13/2000
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa expressed his confidence that Syria will maintain its known national role on the Arab arena. He depicted this role as "positive" especially on the peace process level.
He emphasized the strategic relation with Syria referring that Egypt is following up all the developments in the intimate states and the views of the new Syrian generation.
He expressed his belief that no change will happen in the Syrian position concerning the peace process in case of the election of Bashar El-Assad -- son of Hafez El-Asad -- to succeed his late father Hafez El-Asad.
