Moroccan and Norwegian foreign ministers hold talks in damascus

Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, met in Damascus Tuesday Norwegian peer Thobjorn Jagland.
Benaissa, who is attending the funeral of president Hafez Al Assad of Syria, told MAP envoy the meeting covered the peace process and latest developments in the Middle East and the situation in the Maghreb.
He said that he expounded Morocco's stance on various Arab issues, topped by Morocco's national cause to the Norwegian official whose country grants a particular importance to the Middle East problem and which hosted in 1993 the signing ceremony of the Israeli-Palestinian agreements.
Benaissa added that the head of the Norwegian diplomacy showed total understanding. We decided to keep each other informed of evolutions in all issues related to the Maghreb region, he said.
Talks also covered means to upgrade bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
Benaissa and Jagland also talked about consequences resulting from the passing away of the Syrian president and agreed that the new leadership in the Arab country will carry on in the same spirit that marked the Middle east peace process, MAP reported.
