Unified export, import procedures
Egypt, Economics, 6/12/2000

"The new phase of economic reform aims at setting up new procedural bodies and developing existing ones to keep abreast of recent global developments and to streamline the economy," Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Youssef Boutros Ghali said Saturday in press statements.

Ghali stressed that the bodies include an Exporters Union and the development of a worldwide General Export-Import Supervisory and Legal Office Authority, which will process exports and protect Egyptian products from illegal trade practices.

In the same vein, Ghali denied that there were obstacles in installing a "cold store facility" at Cairo Airport for perishable goods.

Ghali gave his statements after his follow-up inspection tour of Alexandria and Dekheila seaports, now that checking and supervision procedures have been streamlined by a united supervisory authority, as opposed to the multifarious organizations formerly responsible for procedures of this kind.
