Norwegian diplomat killed in Yemen

A Norwegian diplomat was killed in gun-fire on Saturday night after he was kidnapped with his son by armed men in Yemen.

The Norwegian foreign ministry said that the diplomat was killed in a fire exchange between the Yemeni security forces and the kidnappers who held him with his son before the police had interfered.

The spokesman for the foreign ministry told journalists that the diplomat was driving his car from office in Lusaka, Zambia with his wife and children, when he was kidnapped with one of his children. No explanation was given why the diplomat and his family are in Yemen.

Worthy mentioning tens of foreigners, majority tourists have been kidnapped in Yemen in recent years.
