President Hafez al-Assad's funeral arrangements

Necessary arrangements for the funeral of the late President Hafez al-Assad for Tuesday, June 13 have been completed.

The funeral procession will start at 8:00 a.m. as the funeral will be carried up by hands from the President's house in which he stayed for three decades, heading for the Ummayad's square in Damascus.

At the Ummayad's square a massive public seen off for the president will be held by the gathering people. Then the official and people's procession will walks behind the funeral which will be carried on a gun-carriage, covered with the Syrian flag and escorted by all types of Syrian weapons.

From the Ummayad's mosque the procession will head for al-Mazze airport via al-Mazze highway, and the body of the deceased will arrive at the airport by 11 a.m.

Then the body will be taken to Bassel al-Assad's airport in Lattakia, where it will be also received by the crowded masses in the city.

Borne on a gun-carriage, the late President's coffin will be taken to Naesah ( name of the late President's mother) mosque, in al-Qardaha at 3: p.m. and the body will by laying in state for Arab and foreign official delegations and the crowded masses for final respect.

After al-Aser ( afternoon) and the funeral prayers, the burial procedures will be made at the Family's cemetery.

Bashar, his brothers, the Baath party leadership, the national progressive leadership and the state officials will receive condolences offered by the visiting delegations at al-Shaab palace.
