Jordanian king promises Jordanians to cultivate fruits of reforms in 2001

On the occasion of the celebration held on the occasion of the first anniversary after ascending the throne in Jordan, the Jordanian King Abdullah promised the Jordanians to cultivate the economic, social and political fruits of current reform in Jordan in the year 2001.

In a speech broadcast by the Jordanian TV and quoted by the Jordanian news agency Petra, the King urged the Jordanians to take part in the parliamentary elections which will be held in 2001 and to elect their eligible representatives for leading the Kingdom in the march of reform.

The King added " My confidence in the future is great because this confident is inspired from my confidence in the creative Jordanian man and on this ground we have the belief that what we carried out in 1999 and what we are doing in this year 2000 is just a preparation for the main infrastructure for a breakthrough in the year 2001 which will witness a qualitative turning point in our economic and social conditions."

The King renewed determination to continue implementation of a series of legislative and administrative reforms necessary to develop Jordan especially in the area of information technology.

The Jordanian King is also behind the efforts made to improve living conditions in Jordan especially improving health conditions to women and children. By the beginning of this year, the Jordanian king established an economic consultation council, over which he presided.

Simultaneously Queen Rania presided over the royal committee on Human rights.
