Human rights chairman says socio-economic rights are not guaranteed
Morocco, Culture, 6/9/2000
The Moroccan Human Rights Association "AMDH" chairman Abderrahmane Benamar said none of the Moroccan administration or institutions do guarantee social and economic rights of Moroccans.
Surveying findings in a report on human rights violations in the Gharb Area (west-central Morocco), he pointed out the kingdom did not have, for the time being, legislation to guarantee rights to free education, health care, social security and employment as provided for by the Constitution and international conventions signed by Morocco.
Benamar deplored the non-implementation of provisions of the universal human rights declaration saying his organization condemned the violations and called for immediate remedy.
