Baioumi:Europe did not refuse any potato shipment
Egypt-European Union, Economics, 6/9/2000
Europe did not refuse any Egyptian potato shipment that was exported during the current season - referring that nearly 109,000 tons of potato's were exported to the European market this season without any problems.
This is the first time in the history of the Egyptian - European cooperation that this has happened said Egyptian assistant foreign minister for the European affairs Gamal Baioumi.
Meantime, potato exporters demanded compensation for every ton they export to Europe this season. In an urgent note they raised to Yusef Botrus Ghali -- the Egyptian minister of economy and foreign trade -- they said that their losses reached 150 dollars for every exported ton to the European Union countries.
