Canada resumes relations with Sudan
Sudan-Canada, Economics, 6/9/2000

Canada on Wednesday decided to open a diplomatic representation office in Sudan before the end of July. This office will be an extension to the Canadian embassy in Addis Ababa.

AFP said that the Canadian foreign ministry said in a statement that diplomat Nicolas Doglan who used to serve the post of Canada's consul to Bogota was appointed as the head of this new mission, SANA reported.

This measure, however, falls in the course of a series of steps declared by the Canadian foreign minister Lloyd Axworthy in February to monitor conditions in Sudan.

A Canadian governmental mission visited Sudan in December 1999 had accused Talesmann company for energy which is investing there of helping the Sudanese government to confront the rebellions in South Sudan though the oil incomes generated by this company.
