Lahoud: fighting corruption and rule of law go hand in hand with liberation
Lebanon, Politics, 6/8/2000

Lebanon's President Emile Lahoud told Lebanese delegations that a law-based society and government are essential and must go hand-in-hand with Liberation and rebuilding.

Lahoud stressed the need for exceptional ruthlessness in fighting corruption" to render our homeland capable of using its potentials and protecting investment opportunities," the official Lebanese news agency reported.

A delegation from " All of Us Are Responsible Association" visited the Palace where they were told by the president that " Regaining our Land is not enough for Lebanon to reassume its pioneering role in the region, for we must ruthlessly combat corruption in order to obtain our chances within the context of international-regional competition."

Municipal delegations from Lebanese regions met with the president on Lebanese issues prior to their going to the newly liberated South Lebanon area. Lahoud praised their initiative which he qualified as embodying national unity and solidarity.
