Morocco, Gabon sign protocol to implement fishery accord
Morocco-Gabon, Economics, 6/8/2000

Morocco and Gabon concluded a protocol on implementation of the fishery agreement and a cooperation accord in higher education.

The agreement was signed here Thursday between Moroccan foreign affairs minister Mohamed Benaissa and Gabonese peer, Jean Ping.

A Gabonese ministerial delegation comprising the foreign affairs, defense, agriculture and trade, tourism, industrial development and handicraft ministers, started Sunday a work visit to Morocco.

The delegation members had talks with Moroccan officials on ways to re-launch bilateral cooperation in defense, agriculture, tourism, trade and handicraft.

The two sides deplored the low level of economic relations and stressed the need to promote trade exchanges through increasing contacts between Moroccan and Gabonese businessmen and activating the Moroccan-Gabonese joint business council.

They also agreed to diversify and develop bilateral cooperation especially in oil and gas.
