Qaddafi continues African contacts
Libya-belarus, Politics, 6/8/2000

Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi on Wednesday in Tripoli received a message from President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in which he expressed great interest on developing relations between the two countries.

The message was handed by Belarus' deputy premier and foreign minister during his meeting with Qaddafi on Wednesday in Tripoli.

Meantime, Qaddafi received a telephone call from President Idris debi of Chad during which current conditions in the African horn and the efforts made by the coast and desert states to settle the arising conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia by peaceful means.

Qaddafi also received another telephone call from President Asyas Afourki of Eritrea during which current events in the region especially the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia were reviewed. The two presidents stressed the need of halting military operations between the two countries.
