Sudan, Politics, 6/7/2000
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Esmat Abd El-Maguid assured the league's support and solidarity with Sudan for lifting the imposed sanction since 1996 especially when Sudan has fulfilled all its commitments according to the Security Council's resolution related to the issue.
Abd El-Maguid hailed the move of the UN Arab group in New York which strongly supports Sudan's request to end the sanctions - expressing his hope that the Security Council will lift up the imposed sanctions as soon as possible.
In this regard, Abd El-Maguid hailed the positive efforts exerted by Sudanese government to rectify the conflict in its relations with its neighboring countries on the African and Arab levels.
