Qatar Says Support to Morocco 2006 Bid indisputable
Qatar-Morocco, Sports, 6/7/2000
Qatar said its support to Morocco's bid to host the 2006 world soccer cup is indisputable, despite earlier reports that Qatari member of the FIFA executive committee, Ben Hamman, would not vote for Morocco.
According to Sheikh Saoud Ben Khaled Al-Thani, Ben Hamman has denied reports that he would vote for the German candidacy. Qatar supports Morocco, insisted the Qatari official who was on a visit to Jordan to rally support for his own country's candidacy to host the 2006 Asian Cup of Nations.
He added in a statement to AFP news agency that his country renewed its backing of Morocco during a visit to Doha by Moroccan youth and sports minister and it is illogical that Qatar backs Germany or any other country at the expense of Morocco at a time when the emirate, itself, needs the support of all Arabs to organize the Asian Cup of Nations, MAP reported.
