Hungarian premier starts visit to Morocco
Morocco-Hungary, Politics, 6/7/2000

Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, started on Tuesday a three-day official visit to Morocco at the invitation of his Moroccan peer, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, and was received in Casablanca, shortly after arrival, by King Mohammed VI.

The Hungarian official described his visit, the first ever by a Hungarian Prime Minister to Morocco, as "historic" and said it is meant to open a new chapter in bilateral relations and to promote a deeper long-term cooperation.

He underlined, in a statement to reporters upon arrival in Rabat, the need to bolster cooperation between the Maghreb region and Central Europe, stressing the role Morocco and Hungary can play in this respect.

The visiting prime minister is accompanied by a large delegation including ministers of the interior and of social affairs, the secretaries of state for foreign affairs, economy and education, and several businessmen.
