Light verdicts against 80 persons for SLA members
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 6/6/2000
The military court in Beirut issued against 80 persons from members of the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Lebanese militia light verdicts that vary between 6 months to 3 years where most of them have already been jailed for a year.
The suspects are tried for spying for security bodies that work for Israel and of terrorism. Tens confessed to the charges addressed against them. Their defense lawyers assigned to them by the lawyers' union referred in their defense to the circumstances which forced them to join the pro Israeli militias.
The suspects' families gathered before the military court in Beirut to find out the verdict results.
