Iran-Turkey, Politics, 6/6/2000
Iran negated begin involved in the accident of exploding the U.S airplane also Lockerbie in Scotland in 1988.
In a statement yesterday, the Iranian T.V stated that the allegation of Iranian dissident Ahmed Bahbahani to U.S C.B.S network have nothing to do with truth. Bahbahani, who worked for the Iranian intelligence body, asserted that Iran was involved in training those involved in the Lockerbie plane incident, to avenge an earlier downing of a Iranian civilian jet shot down by the US forces stationed in the Gulf..
For its part, the Turkish intelligence said in a statement that Bahbahani worked in the Iranian intelligence till 1988 and was discharged from it for spying for a foreign country.
C.B.S quoted Bahbahani as saying that he has proof that Tehran is involved Lockerbie.
US State Department Deputy Spokesman Philip Reeker yesterday said "concerning the reported assertion that Iran ordered the Pan Am 103 bombing, we have stated repeatedly that we will follow the evidence wherever it leads. In the meantime, the United States stands by the facts of the case as outlined in the indictment that we have presented of the two Libyans currently on trial for the attack, and we believe that case is very solid."
