Morocco - Mali commission opens today
Morocco-Mali, Politics, 6/5/2000

The Moroccan - Malian commission will hold its fifth session this June 5-6 here, in keeping with instructions of King Mohammed VI and President Oumar Konare, says a statement of the Moroccan ministry of foreign affairs and cooperation.

The two African heads of state who had met in parallel to the European-African summit early last April in Cairo decided that the commission, set up in March 1987, would meet under the chairmanship of foreign ministers.

Since inception in 1987, the commission only met twice in 1989 and 1997.

The statement goes on that while trade flows between the two countries are still below the two countries' aspirations and potentials, cooperation in executive training, agriculture development, dam construction and mining is set to become a model of south-south cooperation.
