Royal phone calls on Senegal - Mauritania border-developments
Morocco-Mauritania, Politics, 6/5/2000

Morocco's King Mohammed VI had Sunday telephone calls with Presidents Mouaouiya Ould Sid Ahmed Taya and Abdoulaye Wade on developments at Mauritania and Senegal borders and offered mediation should the need arise.

The king invited the two brotherly countries to favor dialog and cooperation for the development of their border-areas within the frame of the organization for the promotion of the Senegal river.

On the same day, MAP office in Dakar received a press-release from the government saying there was no problem between Senegal and Mauritania and that nationals from Mauritania living in Senegal were in no way threatened.
