Al-Shara in Cairo

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening leading the Syrian delegation to the meetings of the 17th session of the foreign ministers of the 8 Damascus Declaration member states.
Al-Shara stressed Syria's call on all Arabs to revitalize Arab solidarity and enhancing Arab steadfastness in confrontation of all challenges.
He added that Lebanon's steadfastness and the resistance embodied a tangible evidence that the Arab rights and lands cannot be given up.
The foreign minister also stressed that Syria is keen to establish a just and comprehensive peace which should be also a strategic choice for Israel. He underlined the importance of this meeting, expressing his hope that the meeting of the Damascus Declaration signatory states will be an opportunity to review view points to improve joint Arab action and to back the position of the Arab league.
At the airport al-Shara was welcomed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, head of the Syrian diplomatic mission in Cairo, ambassador Majeed Abu Saleh and high ranking Egyptian officials concerned.
Later in the day, deliberation of the preparatory meeting of the foreign ministers of the Damascus Declaration signatory states started on Sunday in Cairo at the senior officials and experts level. It was chaired by the Egyptian deputy foreign minister for Arab affairs Mustafa al-Faqi.
