Mubarak: Restoring the Golan to Syria is guarantee to peace and stability

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak has stressed his country's care to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region according to Madrid conference and the land for peace formula.

In a joint press conference with the Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar on Tuesday evening and published on Wednesday morning in Cairo, President Mubarak stressed the need to Israel's government commitment to its obligations and to restoring back the whole of the Golan.

Mubarak added that Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon should be followed by an Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories without any maneuverings because such a withdrawal will be the guarantee for a just and comprehensive peace in the region and security for all sides.

Mubarak called for evacuating the region from the nuclear weapons and all mass destruction weapons for the service of the region's security and the safety of its peoples.

For his part, the Spanish foreign minister stressed the need of establishing a just and comprehensive peace in the region, according to Madrid conference principles, stressing the need of deepening and developing Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.

Meantime, a statement for the Russian foreign ministry said that the deputy foreign minister and the special representative for the Russian President to the ME peace process Vasseli Serdiv met on Wednesday with the Arab ambassadors accredited in Moscow and discussed with them main regional issues and means of developing relations between Russia and the Arab states.

In a statement the Russian foreign ministry said on Wednesday that Serdin told the ambassadors about the interest of the Russian side to develop ties with the countries of the Middle east and to cooperate with it in issues pertaining to strengthening world's peace and stability.

He added that the first steps taken by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in the foreign policy after he assumed his post officially represented in sending his representatives to the Arab states to discuss issues of joint interest and the most persistent.
