Killing an officer in the Iranian revolutionary guard

Senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander General Abdullah Rodki was killed after being shot on Monday in south Iran.

The murdered was a commander for the Iranian maritime guard during the Iranian - Iraqi war in the eighties.

On the other hand, Iranian sources assured that the Iranian revolutionary guard frustrated a cooperation attempt with one of the highly placed conservative man of religion - for an assassination scheme against Iranian President Mohammed Khatami by one of the security men assigned to guard official personalities.

The sources said that one of the men of religion informed the authorities that one of the guards came to ask for religious advisory opinion that allows for assassinating Khatami and the guards intelligence service arrested the planner of the assassination.
