Russian Duma members for boosting ties with Arab states

The Russian parliamentary, diplomatic and social figures have called for boosting relations between Russia and the Arab states and reactivating Russia's role in the Middle East peace process.
On Monday, a symposium was held at the Russian Duma ( parliament) to discuss aspects of Arab- Russian relations. It was attended by a number of Arab ambassadors accredited to Moscow along with Russian dignitaries.
Head of the Duma international relations committee Dimetry Rogozin stressed the role played by the Russian sponsor at the ME peace process for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle east.
He remarked areas of cooperation between the two sides regarding the establishment of joint economic projects, giving reciprocal support and cooperation in solving international economic and political issues.
Meantime, the director of the Middle East and North Africa department at the Russian foreign ministry Alexander Sultanov stressed that President Hafez al-Assad's visit to Moscow in 1999 and the visit by the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in addition the missions of special envoys of the Arab countries to Russian President Vladimir Putin have played a significant role in enhancing the ties between the two sides. Sultanvov stressed the justice of Syria's stances to restoring back its occupied Golan. Kuwait's ambassador and Dean of the Arab diplomatic corps Fawzi al-Jasem stressed that the Arab states are keen to develop their ties with Russia in all domains, expressing the hope to reactivate the role of Russian cosponsor of the ME peace.
