The Israeli radio said on Monday that President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt had recommended Israel to hand over Shebaa farms to Lebanon so as there would be no pretext to Hizbullah to continue attacks against Israel. The radio explained that Mubarak said so to the Israeli minister of the Interior Sholoumi Bin Ami during their meeting last week in Cairo and Bin Ami conveyed this later to Barak. Go

The Lebanese magazine al-Sheraa said in its recent issue of May 27 released in Beirut that the first tour Bashar al-Assad will make after his elections in the regional leadership of the Baath Party on June 17, 2000 will be to the west and would cover Britain and the US. Go

Egyptian foreign minister Amr Moussa received a message from his Israeli counterpart David Levi concerning the developments of the peace process in M.E on view of the Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon. Go

Syrian Minister of Information Adnan Omran on Monday in Damascus received the secretary general of the Arab news agencies Fareed Ayar. The meeting was attended by the director general of SANA Fayez al-Sayyegh. Talks dealt with activities carried out by the federation and its role in deepening the basics of the joint Arab media work and qualifying technical cadres in the Arab news agencies. Omran stressed the need to upgrade the Arab national media and to make use of information technology so as to positively reflect on the work of the Arab national news agencies. Go

Egyptian assistant for the foreign minister Mostafa El-Keki who is currently visiting Sudan asserted that there is a real trend for making a positive jump in Egyptian - Sudanese relations - referring that what happened during the past 10 years had negatively effected relations between the 2 states. El-Feki who is heading the Egyptian side in meetings of the Egyptian - Sudanese preparatory committee to prepare for the ministerial committee - said that there is a desire in turning a new page page in relations, adding that there are great developments which took place during these years "which requires us to revise aspects of these relations between the 2 countries." Malaysia's foreign minister Datu Hamid al-Bar arrived in Jordan on Monday in a visit to Jordan which will last for several days. The Malaysian minister will hold talks with high ranking officials dealing with cooperation relations between Jordan and Malaysia in various areas and means of backing and strengthening them. Go

Moroccan and Italian associations, "Ribat El Fath" and "Consorzio Italia Mediterraneo," signed on Monday an agreement meant to develop economic, financial and technical cooperation to promote small and medium-sized enterprises. The agreement provides for collaboration between business operators of the regions of Rabat and Lazio, support to initiative by young entrepreneurs and the creation of a center to train young entrepreneurs in business management. The secretary general of the Hizbullah Party Sheikh Hassan Nasrullah said on Monday in a statement to al-Sharq radio that he is ready to interfere in order to define the date of the Israeli pilot Ron Arad and that this readiness is based on his interest for releasing Lebanese and Palestinian detainees.
