Indyk and Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 5/29/2000
The US ambassador in Israel Martin Indyk has viewed Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon as a very positive indicator towards Syria and clearly shows Israel's commitment to the UN resolutions and the peace process.
In a seminar held in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday on the foundation anniversary of the Hebrew university, Indyk added that after Israel has implemented UN Security Council resolution 425 and withdrawn to the international borders there will be no justification for continued disputes between it ( Israel) and the Hezbollah party.
He called on the Lebanese government to spread its authority on the border area according to UN resolution 425 and the redeployment of the Lebanese army in the southern lebanon area, noting the need of settling the question of Shebaa farms between Syria and Lebanon, The Israeli radio reported.
