Omani officials head to Riyadh for Gulf states continued work on unification

Ahmed bin Abdul Macki, Minister of National Economy, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council left today for Riyadh at the head of an Omani delegation, to participate in the financial and economic cooperation committee meeting in Riyadh today and that will last for two days, the Omani news agency reported.

The meeting agenda will cover unification of customs tariff among the Gulf Cooperation Council states (GCC) towards the outside world as well as reviewing results of the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Finance and Economy on the review and improvement of the unified economic agreement.

The meeting will also discuss the outcome of the work of a technical committees affiliate to the financial and economic cooperation committee for deepening of citizenship practice in economic activities and other fields such as, "the long-term strategy for the Gulf relations and negotiations with countries, regional blocs and international organisations and coordination of financial and monetary polices, among the GCC countries," the report said.

Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry also left today for Riyadh to the meeting of specifications and measurements authority's Board of the GCC states where "The Ministers are due to discuss several topics related to specifications and measurements, speeding up unifying standard specifications, in existence in the GCC countries and work progress at the authority.This meeting follows the members of the authority's board meeting held in Al Ain, UAE on October 5th 1999," the report said.
