Iraq demands UN allocations to print currency

Iraq has asked the U.N to Allocate $10 Million to purchase equipment for printing Iraqi currency, a letter to U.N Secretary-General Kofi Annan handed by Iraq's permanent U.N representative Saeed Hameed Hassan on Friday a Iraqi news agency report said.
Iraq's Foreign Minister Mohammed Saeed As-Sahaf expressed regret for the U.N indifference to approve the allocated credit for banking sector of 10 million dollars for each phase to buy currency printing machines and materials for the banking sector, and that this is an additional obstacle to improve the conditions of Iraqi citizens under the sanctions.
Sahaf urged on the UN to show concern for this urgent need that directly affect the national economy and would help stop the circulation of counterfeit money, the report said.
