Lebanese government considers a development program for the south
Lebanon, Politics, 5/27/2000

The Lebanese government in an effort to deal with the needs of Lebanese citizens in the south formed two ministerial committees to deal with emergency and urgent measures and longer term measures for putting an executive program for development programs that was formally made by the government nearly a year ago.

Lebanese sources assured that there are problems in re-linking the southern infra structure networks with the national network, adding that the largest problem is the unemployment in south Lebanon.

On the other hand, Lebanese economy minister Naser El-Saeedi urged countries of the European union to contribute to the reconstruction of south Lebanon and supporting Lebanon in the current stage.

The European commissariat will work on sending a group of experts to the area in the coming month to evaluate conditions and for mine removal which is a top priority item on their agenda.
